Diverse Learning at Tyndale

Diverse Learning at Tyndale

At Tyndale Christian School all students are entitled to rigorous, relevant and engaging learning opportunities, in a safe and Christ-centred environment, including students with diverse backgrounds, learning dispositions, and needs. As a team in both the Primary and Secondary school, we are working with students, staff, families and the community in various ways to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students. This includes those:

  • who speak English as an Additional Language or dialect (EALD)
  • with a disability,
  • with social-emotional needs
  • with a specific learning need.
  • with high potential and giftedness.
  • who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders

The Diverse Learning Team (DLT) works in partnership with students, teachers, families, and external providers to ensure all students can access and participate in their learning. In building an effective Diverse Learning culture we use the Response to Intervention (RTI) model to meet the vast needs of our students. The RTI model is designed to give increasingly intense levels of support with the underlying philosophy that all students can achieve their potential if given appropriate intervention or extension.

We do this through:

  • High-impact Evidence-based educational strategies.
  • The team referral process
  • Data-informed practices to understand the diverse needs of our students.
  • Collaborative partnerships.
  • The RTI Tiered levels of support, whole class, small group and one-to-one instruction.

Our experienced and large Diverse Learning Team provides several programs to increase student outcomes. Special provisions are available for all students in examinations and in-class assessment tasks. Opportunity for withdrawal of small groups of students is available for additional and specialised instruction in Literacy, Numeracy and English as an Additional Language or Dialect. The MultiLit Reading Program assists students in Primary and Secondary School, while homework and assignment help is offered through the Diverse Learning Hub to our secondary students.

Extension and enrichment opportunities are also provided from K-12 both in the classroom through differentiated instruction, in small group enrichment programs across a variety of subjects and through Individualised Plans.

The Diverse Learning Team looks forward to supporting and working alongside your family.
